Campaign to Free Political Prisoners in Iran (CFPPI) has called, and established 20 June as the international day of action to support political prisoners in Iran. The CFPPI formed a special campaign called 20 June Campaign to organize and carry out this event in June 2011, and to gather an international support for the political prisoners in Iran. The 20 June campaign organized a wide variety of activities and some of the highlights are listed in this report.

Since the Islamic regime of Iran took power in 1979, people in Iran have been deprived from their basic rights including their freedom of expression. Soon after the regime established its power, mass imprisonment and execution of dissident started. Since 1979, no opposition has been tolerated, and slightest resistance to the establishment has been faced with fiercest punishment. This has been the living situation in Iran for more than 31 years, and since then, the number of political prisoners have been on the rise. On 20th June 2011, the global day in support of political prisoners in Iran, We, the undersigned individuals and organizations, demand:· The immediate and unconditional freedom of all political prisoners and Prisoners of Conscience in Iran · Halt on all executions and execution sentences in Iran· Freedom of expression, demonstration, organisation, strike, believing or not believing in faith and/or religion· The international community and governments worldwide should break their long standing silences, and condemn the serious violation of human rights by the Islamic Regime in Iran · The Islamic Regime of Iran must be isolated politically and diplomatically on an international level, and their diplomats and delegates must be expelled from all international communities such as the United Nation and the International Labor Organization (ILO) · The immediate closure of embassies of the Islamic regime · The arrest and public prosecution of those responsible for torturing, raping, and killing thousands of people in Iran during the last 32 years.
