According to the Iran Human Rights Society, Ehsan Hosseinpour, one of those arrested during the nationwide protests, is facing the risk of a death sentence. Human‑rights sources report serious inconsistencies in his case, as well as denial of access to an independent lawyer. There are also reports that his confessions were obtained under pressure during interrogation.
This case is being processed at a time when at least 10 political prisoners have been executed since the beginning of the year, raising further concerns about the handling of protest‑related cases.
