Reports from Iran indicate that several female political and ideological prisoners who had been transferred from Evin Prison to Qarchak Women’s Prison following the Israeli attack on Evin during the twelve-day conflict have now been moved back to Ward 6 of Evin Prison on Thursday, October 9 (17 Mehr).

Women’s rights activists report that while these political prisoners have been returned to Evin, other women detained on general charges remain in poor conditions in Qarchak Prison.

The transfer comes in the wake of the death of Somayeh Rashidi, a political prisoner held in Qarchak, who reportedly died due to lack of medical care — an event that has sparked widespread outrage among civil society and human rights activists.
