On Sunday, January 11, 2026, supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) held a demonstration in London to protest the brutal crackdown on Iran’s nationwide uprising and to express solidarity with political prisoners.
Demonstrators carried placards and photographs of the martyrs of the uprising, calling for an end to repression, the immediate release of detainees, and accountability for the leaders of the Iranian regime—particularly Ali Khamenei—for crimes committed against the Iranian people. The main slogans of the rally emphasized the overthrow of the clerical dictatorship, support for the Iranian people’s uprising, and the urgent need for international action.
Participants described the killing of young protesters and mass arrests as clear signs of the regime’s desperation in the face of a popular uprising, stressing that the policy of appeasement toward Tehran has only encouraged further crimes and repression.
Speakers at the demonstration referred to reports published by the PMOI and the NCRI, including the announcement that more than 50,000 people have been arrested during the recent uprising. They called for:
the unconditional release of all political prisoners,
the immediate dispatch of an international fact-finding mission to visit Iran’s prisons, and
recognition of the Iranian people’s right to resist and to bring about regime change.
The demonstrators also highlighted the leading role of women and youth in the nationwide uprising and honored the memory of those who have lost their lives in the struggle for freedom.
This demonstration was part of a global campaign by freedom-loving Iranians to draw international attention to the grave human rights situation in Iran and to support the Iranian people’s ongoing struggle for democracy and freedom.
