Ehsan Faridi, born 1382 (Iranian calendar), a student at the Faculty of Engineering in Tabriz, who had previously been sentenced to death by Branch 3 of the Tabriz Revolutionary Court on the charge of “corruption on earth through membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran,” is now facing imminent execution after the Supreme Court upheld his sentence.

Faridi was arrested on 18 Esfand 1402 by agents of the Law Enforcement Force in Tabriz, and his case was referred to Investigation Branch 15 in Tabriz.

He was released from Tabriz prison after 10 days on bail set at 2.5 billion tomans.

However, on 29 Khordad 1403, after presenting himself to Investigation Branch 15, a new arrest order was issued and he was returned to Tabriz Central Prison.

According to the account, the investigating magistrate Mousavi Aghdam allegedly told him:

“I have given the shoot-to-kill orders for all the ‘Monafeqin’ [a derogatory term used by authorities for the MEK]. We must beat them in the street so they die like dogs. I will also charge you with moharebeh [waging war against God] so you will be executed and learn your lesson.”

Subsequently, the presiding judge Hassan Fathinejad, head of Branch 3 of the Tabriz Revolutionary Court, sentenced him to death on the charge of corruption on earth through membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran.

His lawyers filed appeals and the case was referred to Branch 30 of the Supreme Court.
