Statement of the “Tuesdays Against Execution” Campaign
The 87th week of the “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign comes at a time when executions in Iran have surged to unprecedented levels. Since September 16, at least 46 executions have been reported, including 2 women and 6 Baluch prisoners. Throughout September alone, 186 executions, including 7 women, have been documented.
The execution of Babak Shahbazi, a member of this campaign, on the anniversary of the 2022 uprising—without a final meeting with his family—has become a grim symbol of the regime’s brutality. His secret transfer for execution sparked protests and a sit-in by fellow inmates in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
While the regime boasts of “pardons,” the rising number of weekly executions lays bare its inhumane and repressive nature.
As the new academic year begins, teachers and students once again stand at the forefront of resistance. Iran’s youth are the regime’s greatest fear, turning classrooms into centers of defiance against executions.
The campaign reiterates: Silence in the face of executions is not an option. Every Tuesday, in memory of the victims and in defense of life, we rise together.
This week, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, campaign members in 52 prisons—including Evin, Ghezel Hesar, Qarchak, Zahedan, Sanandaj, Tabriz, Urmia, Mashhad, Rasht, Shiraz, Kermanshah, and many others—are on hunger strike.
