In this context, the campaign commemorates all those who lost their lives in the pursuit of freedom, especially students who were forcibly disappeared, including Saeed Zeinali, who was taken during the 1999 attack on the University of Tehran dormitories and has been missing ever since.
His case is only one among hundreds of students and citizens who have fallen victim to oppressive rulers—a deep and enduring pain for their families and grieving mothers. Yet, repression, imprisonment, and executions have never managed to halt the students’ fight for freedom.
Today, too, universities face renewed pressure. Political prisoner and 23-year-old student Ehsan Faridi is reportedly at risk of receiving a death sentence for his pro-freedom activities, placing his life in immediate danger.
