It has been over two months since the arrest of Yalda Emam-Doust, a long-distance running champion, mother of two, and former political prisoner.

She was detained in mid-August 2025 by security forces at her home in Isfahan and transferred to an undisclosed location.

Despite persistent efforts by her family, no official information has been provided about her whereabouts or physical condition.

Born in 1975 in Ilam and residing in Isfahan, Emam-Doust is a well-known figure in the province’s athletics community, having won several regional running titles.

Due to her critical views and civic activism, she has been arrested several times in the past.

In 2019, she was detained for writing protest slogans on city walls and released after a few months.

The following year, in June 2020, she was arrested again and held in solitary confinement for two months at Dolatabad Prison in Isfahan.

Later, she was transferred to the women’s ward of Dastgerd Prison, where the Isfahan Revolutionary Court sentenced her to 10 years in prison on charges of “assembly and collusion” and “propaganda against the state.”

Sources close to the family report that during that detention she was subjected to physical and psychological torture and denied phone calls and family visits.

It is also alleged that her former husband, who had ties with security forces, played a direct role in her arrest.

Now, more than 60 days after her latest detention, no security or judicial body has taken responsibility for her arrest.

This total lack of information has sparked serious concern among her family, civil society activists, and human rights organizations, who fear she may be held in solitary confinement or a secret detention center.

Human rights groups are urging the international community to take immediate action and demand transparency regarding her condition and location.
