Amnesty International Calls for Immediate Halt to Executions in Iran; Mohammad Taghavi at Risk of Execution

Amnesty International has issued a new statement warning about the imminent risk of execution for dozens of prisoners in Iran. Among them is Mohammad Taghavi, who faces execution following a grossly unfair trial and a politically motivated verdict handed down by a Revolutionary Court.

The organization emphasized that political trials in Iran routinely violate the most basic standards of due process and that many death sentences are issued based on forced confessions extracted under torture and coercion.

Amnesty International called on the Iranian authorities to immediately halt all executions and end the use of the death penalty as a tool of political repression.
