Lives of Two Kurdish Cultural Activists at Risk: Ongoing Detention and Hunger Strike of Ehsan and Ramin Rostami in Evin Prison

More than 49 days have passed since the arrest of Ehsan and Ramin Rostami, two Kurdish cultural activists from Harsin and residents of Tehran, who are being held in Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

According to their families, both activists have been on a hunger strike for the past 10 days in protest against their arbitrary detention and the uncertainty surrounding their legal status, and their health conditions are deteriorating.


Reports indicate that Ehsan and Ramin Rostami have been denied access to a lawyer, family visits, and phone calls since their arrest.


The Rostami family, who have repeatedly gone to Branch 5 of the Evin Prosecutor’s Office, stated:


“Despite numerous visits, we have received no answers regarding our sons’ case or the charges against them. Their lives are in danger inside Ward 209 of Evin Prison.”


Sources also reported that security forces confiscated the personal belongings of the two activists at the time of their arrest.
