The transfer back to Evin only applied to those who had been moved to Qarchak following the July 2 attack on Evin Prison during the 12-day war between Israel and Iran.
Women convicted of non-political offenses, as well as political prisoners who were already in Qarchak before the attack — including Akbari Monfared — continue to be held in harsh and inhumane conditions in this notorious prison.
Maryam Akbari Monfared, arrested during the 2009 uprising, is now in her sixteenth year of imprisonment. Over the past 15 years, she has not been granted a single day of medical leave.
