An official death certificate has confirmed that political prisoner Hedayat Abdollahpoor, who was detained in 2016 for "rebellion", has been executed.

Mr Abdollahpour's lawyers and family were not told about the execution. His brother, Farhad, said: “Today, June 24, 2020, I was unfortunately informed by a trustworthy source that the death sentence for Hedayat was carried out on May 11, 2020 in Oshnavieh County. He was executed by firing squad in the presence of local military men and those whose children have been killed in the clash of Qareh Soqal Village. Today we received his death certificate.”
Hedayat Abdollahpour was arrested on 15th June 2016 and accused of providing shelter and food to members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran. After an unsuccessful appeal, the 47th Branch of the Supreme Court in Iran sentenced Mr Abdollahpour to death on charges of "rebellion".
His father stated that he is innocent and that the Iranian regime killed his son to "scare the people of Kurdistan".
