Tuesday, September 16, 2025 – On the eve of the anniversary of the 2022 nationwide protests, which reflected the spirit of freedom-seeking and justice-demanding of the Iranian people in the face of oppression and repression, we, the imprisoned participants of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, honor the memory of Jina (Mahsa) Amini and all those who lost their lives in this historic movement.

This uprising, forged through the courage and sacrifice of people in the streets, demonstrated that the determination of the Iranian nation to achieve freedom and human dignity is unbreakable. Although the ruling regime attempted to extinguish this movement with ruthless violence, the flames of resistance remain alive in the hearts and streets of Iran.

“Continuation of the ‘No to Execution Tuesdays’ campaign in its 86th week across 52 prisons.”

With the arrival of the anniversary of the 2022 nationwide uprising – a day that shook the very pillars of the theocratic regime – we honor the memory of Jina Amini and all the martyrs of that great and historic movement. An uprising that the authoritarian government tried to crush only by firing bullets at the youth and women, even targeting protesters’ eyes. Yet, resistance in the streets and neighborhoods continues.

The regime was so terrified of the uprising that it could not conceal its inhumane nature. Since the 2022 protests, it has horrifically escalated executions. In the past three years alone, more than 3,175 people have been killed by hanging – among them 49 political and ideological prisoners and 95 women. Just last week, at least 34 prisoners were executed, and since the beginning of September alone, over 126 people have been hanged. These numbers expose the ongoing human catastrophe and human rights violations in Iran, and they underscore the heavy responsibility of the international community and all freedom-seekers to stand against these brutal executions.

We also commemorate Navid Afkari, the wrestler executed on September 12, 2020, who gave his life for freedom and justice. The sacrifices made during the protests of December 2017, November 2019, and 2022 have proven that the Iranian people will never surrender to repression and tyranny.

The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign strongly condemns the death sentences against Pezhman Tobareh Rizi, under the fabricated charge of “corruption on earth,” and Naser Bekrzadeh, a Kurdish prisoner accused of security-related offenses. We call on all human rights activists and the public to resist these unlawful and unjust rulings.

As members of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, we also express our solidarity with the people and oppressed miners of Saqqez, and with the family of Mohammad Rashidi, who was killed last night by regime security forces. We declare that until the complete abolition of the death penalty and the establishment of real justice in Iran, we will not relent. Every week, we will raise the voice of justice, human rights, and dignity louder and stronger.
