James Joseph, Director of the Duty Legacy Foundation in the United Kingdom — which holds consultative status on human rights at the United Nations — has strongly condemned the Iranian regime’s Supreme Court for upholding the death sentence of Mohammad Javad Vafaei Thani for the third time, calling the decision “shocking and abhorrent.”

He stated that the Supreme Court of Iran has recently confirmed the death sentence of Mohammad Javad Vafaei Thani, a 30-year-old boxing champion, due to his support for the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and his participation in nationwide protests.

Joseph described this brutal decision as yet another example of the regime’s systematic violation of human rights, highlighting the Iranian authorities’ ongoing repression of dissent through executions, torture, and sham trials.

This ruling comes shortly after the recent executions of two other PMOI supporters, Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani, further signaling the regime’s escalation of political persecution.

As the Iranian regime intensifies its campaign of killings and suppression, Joseph urged that the international community cannot remain silent while innocent lives are destroyed by tyranny.

He called for urgent action by the United Nations and global leaders to save Mohammad Javad Vafaei Thani’s life and to hold Iran’s rulers accountable for their ongoing crimes against humanity.
