Imminent Danger to the Life of Political Prisoner Vahid Bani-Amrian
Vahid Bani-Amrian, born in 1992 in Sonqor, Kermanshah, grew up in a politically active family; his father was imprisoned in the 1980s for opposing the Iranian government. Vahid graduated in management from K. N. Toosi University in Tehran.
He was first arrested in 2017 for participating in protests and again the following year. After his release, in 2022 he was exiled to Bashagard, Hormozgan Province, but continued to face harassment. His most recent arrest occurred in January 2024 in Tehran.
In October 2024, Vahid was tried on charges including “rebellion (baghi)” and “membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran.” In December 2024, the court sentenced him to death. Reports indicate he was subjected to torture and forced confessions in Ward 209 of Evin Prison.
On August 7, 2025, Vahid, along with four other political prisoners, was transferred to an unknown location. After ten days without contact, it was revealed that they are being held in quarantine at Ghezel Hesar Prison, where their lives are in grave danger.
Human rights organizations are urgently calling for immediate international action to save the lives of Vahid Bani-Amrian and the other detained political prisoners.
